1 A range of festivities marks the eighth anniversary of the founding of the HKSAR. The Chief Executive gives awards to 273 people in the annual Honours List.
8 The International Olympic Committee accepts the Beijing Organising Committee for the Games of the 29th Olympiad's proposal to stage the 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Equestrian Events in Hong Kong.
11 International Olympic Committee President, Count Jacques Rogge, unveils Olympic Square, a new landmark in Hong Kong Park symbolising the Olympic spirit. The square will be a focal point for activities promoting the 2009 Hong Kong East Asian Games.

20 The Court of Final Appeal rules that the Housing Authority's sale of parking and retail assets is lawful, clearing the way for the authority to relaunch The Link Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) public offering.
24 The Chief Executive leads a government delegation to Chengdu for the second Pan-Pearl River Delta Regional Cooperation and Development Forum held from July 25-28.
30 The Government announces new measures to guard against the spread of the Streptococcus suis infection in the wake of an outbreak in Sichuan Province.
