Few cities in the world have so much nature in such close proximity to man. Hong Kong has more plant species than Britain and more types of coral than the Caribbean, about 480 species of birds, 230 species of butterflies and over 50 species of mammals. Sham Wan beach on Lamma Island is the last regular nesting place in Hong Kong of the endangered green turtle.
