Religious Architecture
Various religions are practised in Hong Kong, in a variety of buildings. St John’s Cathedral in Garden Road, the oldest surviving Western ecclesiastical building in Hong Kong, was completed in 1849 and declared a monument in 1996.
The Catholic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Caine Road, completed in 1888.
Chi Lin Nunnery in Diamond Hill, founded in 1934. In the 1990s, this Buddhist temple complex was reconstructed in wood in Tang Dynasty style.

Jamiah Masjid in Shelley Street, Hong Kong’s oldest mosque, first built in 1849.
Wong Tai Sin Temple in Lung Cheung Road, established as a Taoist temple in 1921.
Khalsa Diwan Sikh Temple in Happy Valley, first established in 1901.
