On July 1, Hong Kong celebrated its 10th anniversary of reunification with China and the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Hundreds of festivities and special events were held throughout the year, including this variety show and parade at Happy Valley Racecourse attended by over 10 000 flag-waving residents. A highlight of the day was a spectacular display by the 8-1 Parachute Brigade of the People's Liberation Army.
