The Steering Committee on Volunteer Movement organised a series of promotional and publicity programmes to promote volunteerism targeted at students and youth, corporations and community organisations. The Campaign Evergreen, one of the major initiatives of the Volunteer Movement, was launched in July with the aim of promoting mutual care and support among people through cross-sector collaboration. It called for volunteer action from all quarters to show concern for people facing difficulties and thus help them regain their strength of purpose to face life's challenges and deal with their difficulties. At year-end, 919 organisations and 351 422 individuals had registered to participate in volunteer service.
